ISPM administers the annual budget processes for Alterations and Improvements (A&I) and Teaching and Learning Environment (TLE) on behalf of the Provost.
ISPM provides planning and programming ranging from small scale requests for space and/or renovations to large scale capital projects. Planning and programming addresses short to long-term needs of units and the university within the context of overall academic and strategic planning.

On December 15, 2023, the Michigan State University Board of Trustees approved the Integrated Facilities and Land Use Plan, the result of nearly two-years of engagement with the Spartan community co-led by Infrastructure Planning and Facilities (IPF), the Office of the Executive Vice President for Administration, and Institutional Space Planning and Management (ISPM) in the Office of the Provost. The plan provides a flexible framework to guide the campus’s physical development for years to come.
